Reat Kilt is an older style of kilt that comes with an extra yard to fold the wearer. It is made up of approximately 3 to 6 yards (54 to 60 inch) of full-length fabric. This kilt was worn both by shepherds and poor people, as it was their cloth-and-blanket.
Many people who wore kilts in the past still love the fabric and wish to be able to wear them today. Our great kilt is beloved by many of our customers because it is a beautiful design that reflects the essence of tradition. But, we received a lot more questions from people asking for a guide to how to wear and fold great kilts.
Kilt and Jacks values all suggestions from our customers. This is why I wrote a guide on how to properly store and wear a great Kilt.
Let’s start with the first part of this article. It is about wearing a great plaid kilt. Without taking up too much of your time, let’s get on with it.

Step 3: After you have finished pinning the fabric, make sure to leave a half-hip of each section of the apron and a half-hip of the pleat.
Step 4: Now you must lie on the kilt, knees bent at the edge of your bed.
Step 5: Now, spread the apron on your body. Smoothen the right side. Next, smoothen the left side of the body with the apron. Make sure your hem is straight. Now fasten the belt.

Part 2: The Great Kilt
This is where you wear the Great Kilt.
Step 7: Now look into the mirror and examine the form of your kilt with its plaid.
Step 8: Next, you will need to take both the ends of your apron and the middle of the plaid in your right hands and place them over the left shoulder. You can then pin them together with the plaid brooch.
Step 9: Here, take the plaid end from the under apron. Tuck it under your belt so that it is as close to your left side.
Step 10- Next, remove the plaid end of your over apron from your waist and tuck it under your belt.
Step 11: The kilt is now visible from the front. However, it will not be visible from the back.
Step 12: Now place the plaid on the head. Then, tie the brooch around the neck by tying the head loop. You will then need to grab the plaid with both your hands, at least an arm’s length from each side. Next, bring the plaid to the left shoulder. Then pin it with a brooch.
Step 13- Now wrap the plaid under your belt. It will look great, even though it is bulky.
Step 14 – Now, take a few pleats from the middle of your plaid and bring it to the left shoulder. Pin it in place.
Step 15 – That’s it!
